NARRATIVE AND GENRE ( macro elements )
What elements of the story are revealed? Your phone rings with a different ringtone to yours and you hear your death. You don't know who is calling and how. Lot of people die and one girl tries to find out who rings the phone and who is the source.
What characters appear? A few characters appear and you also see a few of them die. You can work out who the two main characters are by the camera being mainly focused on two girls but they show more of one with brown hair so you guess she is the main
What iconic elements of the genre are present? There is creepy looking people who you see one minute then you don't the next. One scene is in a hospital. You can already see alot of people die just from the trailers.
MISE-EN-SCENE.
What costume and make-up is visible? The make up of the victims is very natural , there clothing is casual. Throughout the trailer the main characters clothing turns from tight to baggy.
What décor? The victims house is normal looking and nothing seems to be out of place very neat and tidy. The decor of the house where they link the call to is very empty and has what looks like to be a baby's crib. Also the walls are made out of stone.
What props? 4 flip up mobile phones in different colors , red marble ball , a old cut up photo of a family.
How are the actors arranged within the frame? Sat by the window makes her look like an easy target and also sat close together. Girl is kept on the far left of the screen which makes you think something is going to come out at her from the right. Girl sitting on her own in a chair makes it look like a electrical chair. girl standing close to the camera and big stone house in the background makes it look creepy and spooky.
What locations have been used? Victims house , Alley way , Train track , police station , cafe , construction site , old manor house.
SOUND
Describe the music used in the trailer. The sound used in the trailer is very dark. They play the same chimey ringtone over and over again to aware the audience this is a spooky creepy sound. The music played in the background is high pitched and almost like a nursery rhyme. There is also a ticking noise in the background while the music builds up and turns to a choir of people. They also use alot of heavy breathing noises and echoey sounds.
Dialogue- what do you notice about this? (Use quotation) 'Thats your voice , thats you dying' at an early stage they tell the audience what happens. 'It's like you get a voicemail , you hear your death and then you die' again they clearly tell the audience what its about.
Is silence used in any particular way? Describe it. Silence is used a few times before something bad happend to create the audience a feel of no knowing and wanting to know what is happening.
Are any sounds amplified? They amplify the screams over the music.
